Our Beneficiary

CAPTAIN JOSEPH SEBASTIAN CECERE III

We are honored to announce that this year’s beneficiaries will be the children of Captain Joseph Sebastian Cecere III of the NJ Army National Guard who passed away on Monday, July 29th, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. Captain Cecere served in the US Navy from 1996-1999, the US Army Reserve from 1999-2004 and the US Army National Guard from 2006-2019. In March 2019 he was deployed to Djibouti, Africa where he was Charlie Company Commander of the 2nd Battalion 113th Infantry Regiment.

To his peers and subordinates he was known as a leader. To his children, Zoe and Eva, he was a hero. It is our sincere hope that with your assistance we will be able to show Zoe and Eva how a community can come together to thank a fallen hero by being there for his children.

On behalf of the Sergeant Samuel Nutter Organization, we encourage you to support the Cecere family and thank you for being an invaluable part of this cause. You can participate and support by running in the race, making a donation, becoming a sponsor, or volunteering to help race operations. Whichever you choose to do, please choose to take action in honoring the legacy of SGT Nutter, during this year’s 16 Annual Sergeant Nutter 5K Run. SSNO is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and 100% of the proceeds will go to the children of CPT Joseph Sebastian Cecere III.
