Our 2024 Honoree

CORPORAL SANDRO LEMA

CPL Lema.png

Corporal Sandro Lema was born and raised in Orange, New Jersey.  After serving his country for 4 years as a Marine, CPL Lema joined the New Jersey Army-National Guard in 2021.  Since returning to New Jersey, he lives with his mother and brother.  Tragically, in June 2023, while CPL Lema was participating in field training, he received a call that his brother, Diego, was critically injured.  Unfortunately, CPL Lema’s brother was the victim of violent crime and left paralyzed.
Unfortunately, Diego does not have health insurance.  During the investigation of the crime, the local police department closed out their investigation without locating any suspects.  As a result, CPL Lema and Diego were denied assistance through the State’s victim compensation fund.  CPL Lema provides for his entire family, while his mother cares for Diego.  The denial of assistance from the victim’s compensation fund has caused CPL Lema hardship because he now must bear the responsibility of providing for his entire family and Diego’s medical costs.
Since finding out about his brother’s condition, CPL Lema works tirelessly to provide for his family.  Even after the attack, he continues attending drill weekends with the New Jersey National Guard.  Any donation you make, will help CPL Lema care for his brother’s medical bills and necessities.  Your support for CPL Lema and the entire National Guard community is greatly appreciated.

On behalf of the Sergeant Samuel Nutter Organization, we encourage your support and thank you for being an invaluable part of this cause. You can participate and support by running in the race, making a donation, or becoming a sponsor.
