CAPTAIN DOUGLAS LINN HICKOK

Captain Douglas Linn Hickok of the NJ Army National Guard passed away on Saturday March 28th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, Stroudsburg, PA. Captain Hickok served in the US Army National Guard from 2009 to 2020 as a drilling Guardsmen and physician assistant. Captain Hickok was trained as a surgical physician assistant at Cornell University and previously worked as a civilian PA at Andrew’s Air Force Base. He resided in Pennsylvania where he passed and worked in the Tristate area at an Orthopedic clinic. He was planning to report for active duties for the New Jersey National Guard before he fell ill with Covid-19, and was the first US military personnel to pass away from the virus.

Captain Hickok was a man devoted to serving his God, country, and family. To Shandrea and Noah, he was a beloved father who traveled great distances to spend time with them, going on trips and shared a love for the outdoors together. It is our sincere hope that with your participation, we will be able to show Shandrea and Noah how a community can come together to thank a fallen hero by being there for them.

On behalf of the Sergeant Samuel Nutter Organization, we encourage your support and thank you for being an invaluable part of this cause. You can participate and support by running in the race, making a donation, or becoming a sponsor. Whichever you choose to do, please choose to take action in honoring the legacy of SGT Nutter, during this year’s 17th Annual Sergeant Nutter 5K Run. SSNO is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and 100% of the proceeds will go towards Shandrea and Noah's existing college debt.
